Owner of a very handsome Bernese Mountain dog named Jack:

"Matt was great, very patient and listened. Easy to work with and my dog really

listened. He was very professional and made every effort to work with my

schedule. My dog improved on his listening skills and overall behavior. He is still

a puppy but got the ground work to continue with training. I would recommend

Matt and in fact I have already"

- Jim Scherb

Owners of a charming chocolate lab puppy who will likely grow up to be the mayor

of West Philly:

"We feel that we got everything we were hoping to get out of Matt's puppy

course.  We learned effective, non-aggressive ways to get our puppy to stop

undesirable behavior (jumping up, barking for attention) with our body posture,

as well as bonded with him and tired him out with fun training games that

reinforced good behavior (leave it, stay, sit, down, etc.). We were impressed with

Matt's professionalism and found him very easy to schedule with, as well as

responsive to e-mails in between sessions. Mordy -- at only five months old -- is

now capable of walking on a loose leash for several blocks at a time, and also

capable of responding to his name  fairly reliably on walks (so long as the

time-frame is reasonable, and he gets mental breaks in between).  Previously, he

was mainly only capable of paying attention inside, where there are less

distractions.  He also barks and/or jumps for attention far less frequently.  He is

also getting better, gradually, at not waking us by barking or whining before our

alarm goes off in the morning, one of our main concerns. We would definitely

recommend Tuff Pup Training to other dog owners.  Matt has flexible hours,

which are a real help to dog owners who work.  He explains why dogs/puppies

behave the way they do, and helps you think through what they might be trying to

achieve with undesirable behavior, so that your responses to that behavior make

sense, both to you and the dog.  You're not just "following rules" (though he

does provide those).  You're learning to see the world through your puppy's eyes

and help him make the right choices.  Plus, Matt emphasizes ways to make

training fun, for both you and your dog.

- Molly & Jason, owners of Mordy

Owner of two fox terriers Tucker and Ginger:

"The total process surprised me. All of my dog's behaviors have improved and

continue to improve.  My older dog's outdoor behavior changed dramatically.  My

puppy's behavior in the house changed almost immediately. Our trainer is very

easy to get in touch with and is very responsive to our scheduling needs. I like

the structure of each training session and Matt is prepared when he sits down

with the owner to discuss progress since the last session.  Matt can clearly

describe and demonstrate the task at hand and makes you feel comfortable with

how to handle and correct your dog... Thank so much for all of your help and

guidance over the past several weeks.  There's been an incredible improvement

in the quality of life in our home and our dogs just seem to be happier.  The

training has been something that has strengthened the bond between us and our

dogs and with each other as we interact as a family.  Even John, my sweet silent

partner, is having fun and responds positively to Tuck. I liked how you told Fi (our

daughter) that she was now a trainer.  It infused a new sense of confidence.  We

really looked forward to our sessions and have had fun celebrating Tuck's

success during daily training and his sessions with you. We're really happy that

we were able to locate and engage Tuff Pup Training in our effort to keep our

Tuck as a member of our family. Again, thanks!"

- Julia Crane

Owner of a reactive Pit Bull mix named Jeremiah:

"We are able to handle our dog better while on walks, and I've found steady

improvement in his behavior towards other dogs. The fact that Matt was able to

have our dog playfully interact with another dog was surprising in itself!"

- Emily Kurlansik

Owner of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Thurston:

"Matt was really flexible in adjusting to our constraints and style.  I compared the

cost of a group class vs. three one-on-one training sessions with Matt, and it's

really quite comparable.  Yet, Matt will come to your house and do it when it's

most convenient, and he's fun to work with, so I'm definitely pleased."

- Thurston's Mom and Dad, Amy and Adam

Owner of two Mini Schnauzers:

"Thanks Matt! I really enjoyed the training and strongly feel that I've learned

some skills to keep control of the pooches. I can't thank you enough! The training

exceeded my expectations and taught me skills that I could use when training

was over. The training was easy to understand, follow and implement on my own."

- Robyn Marino

Owners of a handsome Wheaten Terrier:

" I just took Tucker for a walk around the block to 3rd street and back (about a 20

min walk)  and Tucker was AWESOME!!!  He was so responsive.  NO PULLING!!!

Fabulous eye contact.  If I would stop he would come right back to my heel.  He

was so into me and the treats that he didn't even notice the two dogs that were

on the other side of the street.  I realize that it might not always be like this but

today was great.  Thanks for last night...I see a big change already!
