(click here)** Owner of a very handsome Burmese Mountain dog named Jack: "Matt was great, very patient and listened. Easy to work with and my dog really listened. He was very professional and made every effort to work with my schedule. My dog improved on his listening skills and overall behavior. He is still a puppy but got the ground work to continue with training. I would recommend Matt and in fact I have already" - Jim Scherb Owners of a charming chocolate lab puppy who will likely grow up to be the mayor of West Philly: "We feel that we got everything we were hoping to get out of Matt's puppy course. We learned effective, non-aggressive ways to get our puppy to stop undesirable behavior (jumping up, barking for attention) with our body posture, as well as bonded with him and tired him out with fun training games that reinforced good behavior (leave it, stay, sit, down, etc.). We were impressed with Matt's professionalism and found him very easy to schedule with, as well as responsive to e-mails in between sessions. Mordy -- at only five months old -- is now capable of walking on a loose leash for several blocks at a time, and also capable of responding to his name fairly reliably on walks (so long as the time-frame is reasonable, and he gets mental breaks in between). Previously, he was mainly only capable of paying attention inside, where there are less distractions. He also barks and/or jumps for attention far less frequently. He is also getting better, gradually, at not waking us by barking or whining before our alarm goes off in the morning, one of our main concerns. We would definitely recommend Tuff Pup Training to other dog owners. Matt has flexible hours, which are a real help to dog owners who work. He explains why dogs/puppies behave the way they do, and helps you think through what they might be trying to achieve with undesirable behavior, so that your responses to that behavior make sense, both to you and the dog. You're not just "following rules" (though he does provide those). You're learning to see the world through your puppy's eyes and help him make the right choices. Plus, Matt emphasizes ways to make training fun, for both you and your dog. - Molly & Jason, owners of Mordy Owner of two fox terriers Tucker and Ginger: "The total process surprised me. All of my dog's behaviors have improved and continue to improve. My older dog's outdoor behavior changed dramatically. My puppy's behavior in the house changed almost immediately. Our trainer is very easy to get in touch with and is very responsive to our scheduling needs. I like the structure of each training session and Matt is prepared when he sits down with the owner to discuss progress since the last session. Matt can clearly describe and demonstrate the task at hand and makes you feel comfortable with how to handle and correct your dog... Thank so much for all of your help and guidance over the past several weeks. There's been an incredible improvement in the quality of life in our home and our dogs just seem to be happier. The training has been something that has strengthened the bond between us and our dogs and with each other as we interact as a family. Even John, my sweet silent partner, is having fun and responds positively to Tuck. I liked how you told Fi (our daughter) that she was now a trainer. It infused a new sense of confidence. We really looked forward to our sessions and have had fun celebrating Tuck's success during daily training and his sessions with you. We're really happy that we were able to locate and engage Tuff Pup Training in our effort to keep our Tuck as a member of our family. Again, thanks!" - Julia Crane Owner of a reactive Pit Bull mix named Jeremiah: "We are able to handle our dog better while on walks, and I've found steady improvement in his behavior towards other dogs. The fact that Matt was able to have our dog playfully interact with another dog was surprising in itself!" - Emily Kurlansik Owner of a cavalier king Charles Spaniel named Thurston: "Matt was really flexible in adjusting to our constraints and style. I compared the cost of a group class vs. three one-on-one training sessions with Matt, and it's really quite comparable. Yet, Matt will come to your house and do it when it's most convenient, and he's fun to work with, so I'm definitely pleased." - Thurston's Mom and Dad, Amy and Adam Owner of two Mini Schnauzers: "Thanks Matt! I really enjoyed the training and strongly feel that I've learned some skills to keep control of the pooches. I can't thank you enough! The training exceeded my expectations and taught me skills that I could use when training was over. The training was easy to understand, follow and implement on my own." - Robyn Marino Owners of a handsome Wheaten Terrier: " I just took Tucker for a walk around the block to 3rd street and back (about a 20 min walk) and Tucker was AWESOME!!! He was so responsive. NO PULLING!!! Fabulous eye contact. If I would stop he would come right back to my heel. He was so into me and the treats that he didn't even notice the two dogs that were on the other side of the street. I realize that it might not always be like this but today was great. Thanks for last night...I see a big change already! - Owners Kate and Randy Owner of a charming Lab/Pit mix named Ben: "The training was surprisingly pleasant and Ben seemed to really respond to it. The method Matt uses is very effective with Ben. Matt responded quickly and professionally to e-mails and phone messages and he was willing to meet my scheduling needs. We no longer perform a tug of war with the leash throughout the entire walk. Now, if Ben pulls a little ahead, I simply slow down or stop altogether or change directions and he returns to my side. Without any hesitation, I would recommend this service. Matt has a never-ending supply of patience and genuine love for the dogs he trains. Ben lights up every time he sees Matt. Matt also keeps himself well-informed on the various training methods." - Owner Angela and her dog Ben Owner of a Cairn Terrier Mix named Charlie: "Tuff Pup Training gave us more knowledge about our puppy than we ever could have hoped for. We now understand why she does the things that she does instead of just getting frustrated and upset over them. Matt was always easy to get in touch with for any problem or concern we may have had about our puppy. He was flexible and worked with our schedule always. When we first rescued Charlie it was almost impossible for us to even sit down. She was ripping apart everything in sight. Now Charlie is the one that sits, lays, goes to her spot, dances, and shows you her belly on command. I would certainly recommend Tuff Pup Training and I already have. The relationship that Tuff Pup helps you build with your dog is priceless and will last forever." - Owners Lyndi and Jack Owners of possibly the cutest Maltese ever: "The individual, personalized attention we got in our sessions was great along with the knowledge and skill of the instructor. It is easy to read books on dogs, but those books do not observe YOUR dog and then make recommendations based on his or her behavior; the Tuff Pup trainer does! Matt was extremely helpful and always worked with our schedules. He even tailored the training time line to fit Baxter's progress and gave us time to work with him between sessions, rather than rushing. I could not have had a better experience! Even though he is a puppy, his listening skills greatly improved. Our trainer showed us the best way to get Baxter's attention and how to get what we want in the short time that we have his attention. He also improved with liking his crate and sleeping in it without a hassle at night. I would definitely recommend Tuff Pup Training to other dog owners because having a trainer definitely enlightened me as an owner as to how I can read my dog's behavior and strengthen our relationship. The training games are highly effective and having a trained person there to actually work with the dog and show you the correct ways to do train was the most helpful part." - Owners Jennifer and Joey Owners of a playful Rotty named Mia: "We were very pleased with the service Tuff Pup Training provided. We expected a trainer proficient in the training of puppies and that is exactly what we got. Since we had prior experience with training our previous pet, we were open to any new info and techniques and felt our needs were met. Matt was always very professional and informative. He has a very strong knowledge base of puppy behavior, he is flexible with scheduling, and prompt at getting back to us with any concerns. I was thrilled to see our Mia, our busy little puppy, respond to us and see her focus improved even during her busiest times of the day. I feel that anyone considering being a doggy parent should learn all they can about raising a good puppy to give their dog the best chance at a healthy, safe and enriched life. The best dog and dog owner relationships come through knowledge and training. I would highly recommend Tuff Pup training to ensure a great relationship with their dog." - Owners Jacquie and Russ Owner of a Schnauzer who's just too cool: "I found the whole training process much more simple than I expected. I felt that Matt provided very clear helpful advice. Matt was always easily available for questions. Nero has become a more responsive dog that follows and listens to most of my commands. Matt's approach and his methods make the whole training process less mysterious and totally practical and clear." - Owner Glen PLEASE COME BACK SOON FOR PICTURES AND VIDEOS OF CURRENT CLIENTS.
